The cubic zirconia is a simulated precious stone that was first produced in Russia a number of years ago and has greatly increased in popularity in recent years as a way to get the look and feel of a real diamond, ruby or emerald without having to take out a loan to get one. For instance, a one caret diamond can easily cost $10,000 or more while the same cubic zirconium stone will cost only a couple of hundred, at most. You can buy cubic zirconium stones in any size, shape, clarity and nearly any color you like and the great thing about them is that they are 100% clear, a trait that will make a diamond extremely expensive.

The most popular use for these stones is in gold cubic zirconia rings. Gold CZ rings use the natural complementing luster of gold to accent and highlight the gleaming flashing facets of a cut stone. They are also much less expensive than buying something with a genuine gemstones. The stone is so low cost it is very easy to upgrade the band. If with a diamond you may have had to settle for a gold plated ring or, at best, 14 carets, you can now get an 18 or higher caret. When you consider the fact that the cubic zirconia is a perfect imitation of a diamond they extra flash from a higher quality band will make the ring look much better.

It is also very important to determine how much you are able to spend on gold zirconia rings. Prices will range due to the color and quality of the stone. The cut is very important also when considering the cost and you might want a solitaire ring when a cluster ring is less expensive. If you are shopping at a reputable jewelry store however the clerks can be very helpful in making a decision.
