4) Avoid the pits! They will damage your juicing machine or at the least they will blunt the blade. Even small pits such as cherry pits are too hard to juice. Seeds however can be juiced with no adverse effect to your juicer, but don’t juice apple seeds! They contain cyanide, this wont affect your juicer but it can poison you!

5) Avoid juicing oranges and grapefruits with their skins on. The skins contain toxic compounds that are harmful to us in great quantities. The white pith between the flesh and the skins however are an excellent source of flavonoids. Try to get as much of this white pith as you can into the juicer along with the flesh of these citrus fruits to take full advantage of these flavonoids.

6) Feel like a banana juice? I recommend a blender for this purpose. Bananas have a very low water content and produce very little juice and clog up your machine in the same stroke. Avocados and papayas are also fruits with low water content that don’t juice well.

7) How many fruits and vegetables will produce how much juice? It varies a little depending on which fruits or vegetables your using. The general rule of thumb is that a pound of fruit or vegetables will produce about one cup of juice.
