Backup Data from a Broken Computer

To backup data and transfer it to another computer is done by adding a second hard drive to the computer and downloading a backup utility application for the system. Before the backup process is done, it is advisable to check the hard drive from the broken computer and see whether or not it is damaged. Unfortunately, once the hard drive is damaged then the data is most likely unrecoverable from the broken computer. Although it may be possible to usa a hard drive recovery service.

Before touching the broken hard drive, it is a good idea to touch any metal that is not attached to the computer because this will discharge static electricity from your body that could cause damage to the computer. Make sure that the computer is always turned off. Take the hard disk drive from the broken computer and unplug the cords from the back of it.

The next thing to do is to look for jumper pins in the hard drive and change it to the slave setting. Open the new computer where the hard drive is taken from the broken computer. Locate the new bay where the new hard drive will be placed and secure it with screws. Then once the hard drive is attached to the computer, plug the power cord into it. Make sure that the IDE cable is attached from the hard drive to the motherboard of the computer.

Then, the next thing to do is attach the casing of the computer as well as the power cord of the computer. Turn on the computer afterwards and let Windows or any operating system load in the computer. Once the operating system loads into the computer, go to My Computer and then check if the new hard drive is included in the disk list this will determine that the process is successful. However, if the new hard drive is not listed this may be that the cables are not properly plugged into it, the hard drive is damaged, the jumper settings are not properly attached, or the hard drive is not yet installed.

The best thing to do about this is wait for the system to install the new hardware device and then wait for another minute before the system will update the new settings. The hard drive may sometimes be too large for a computer to recognize thus flashing the BIOS may resolve this problem. Sometimes the hard drive needs to format so that it will be restructured to cater more space.

Once the computer recognizes the hard drive, open the My Computer and locate the files to be backed up. Transfer them to the new hard drive in the computer and delete some files that are no longer important. If there are a lot of files to be deleted, it is best to perform the defragmentation process that usually takes around 10 minutes to an hour. Doing this will improve the speed when accessing data to the hard disk and back up process will also be faster. Logitech Harmony Remote Quality

Logitech Harmony is one of the easiest products that I have ever used. A great model is the  Logitech Harmony 890 remote. I purchased this product in order to operate a twenty inch television that I had purchased at a store.

The problem that I found with the included remote was the fact that it was not very responsive, it wouldn’t switch the channel when I pressed the button and there was a delay when I would switch between different modes. This made it difficult to play video games, I decided to buy the Logitech Harmony because of the cheap price. What I also liked was the last size of this remote, I have never lost it because of this size. Also, the screen allows me to control all of my electronics without any stress.

One of the problems I had in the past was inability to add items, Logitech Harmony enabled me to add all of the items in my home. This device was also great because of the fact that hundreds of electronics can be added, many remotes have a limit to the amount of items that you can add. The remote may stop functioning if you add too many, this is not a problem that I experienced with the Logitech Harmony.

In my home, I have about ten remotes, I have now been able to replace these because of this one universal remote. I never need to waste time looking for my remote and there is never a problem with loss of signal. Other problem I have found with other remotes is that they simply forget some of the items you have added.
