It’s hard to describe anxiety to those who don’t know about it. You have this feeling that comes over you that you can’t escape from. Every time you look at yourself in the mirror there is a voice saying “should your hair look like that, are these the trends that are in at the moment, do people think I look fat in this?”. These worries then follow you to work where you are faced with a pile of paperwork. Your head again goes “am I not working hard enough? Do they think I do nothing? Why have they given all the work to me they must hate me”‘ This doesn’t stop, throughout the whole day you have a running commentary of anxiety fueled worries that hound your every thought. At night time it doesn’t get any better. You go over the day analyzing and thinking about what you should have said or haven’t done. Soon you’re not sleep and not really part of the living either.
People can’t go on like this and they really need to get some help. You can’t live in this cycle where you are permanently thinking about what is going to go wrong or what you might say. This is why you need to reduce the anxiety levels in your life before the anxiety physical symptoms become too much. There are a couple of things you can do. You can give your mind a mental break for a while an try relaxation classes, you could try starting up exercising to increase the amount of endorphins in your body (the happy hormone) or you could write down all your worries in a journal so that you can get them out of your head. All of these are good ways to get your anxiety levels down and get you living a normal life again. Your life doesn’t have to be ruled by anxiety so why not make sure you do something about it!
