Easy Ways To Grow Fruits And Vegetables

By Denver, 14 November, 2009, No Comment

Eating fresh fruits and vegetables, can be a great way to become and remain healthy. Quality produce is not only expensive, but it is also a lot of effort, to keep your house stocked with a variety. Plus, produce is the healthiest, right after being picked, and starts to lose nutritional value, the longer it sits after harvesting.

Fortunately, there is a great solution, to having a convenient, unlimited quantity, of fruits and vegetables. And that is growing your own. If you have some land and some soil, you can have your very own free produce section, available whenever you want.

If you have a lot of land you can have fruit trees, and a huge garden, and even a vineyard. But since we all have different produce requirements and different resources there are a lot of gardening variations you can practice while growing your own produce.

If you have a yard you can plant a couple of fruit trees. I live in a warm climate so I like to have a lemon and a mandarin tree, along with plums and apricots. Fresh cherries are also a great tree to have in your yard if you live in a warm climate.

If you have some extra yard space you can plow it up and turn it into a garden. An easy and practical gardening method, that is becoming popular lately, are the raised beds. You can take some boards and create a 12 inch rectangular bed and then fill it with garden soil. The benefit of having a raised bed is that it is more weed and pest free, and it is easy to care for because you don’t have to stoop down on the ground.

It also isolates your garden area and makes weeding easier. If you only have a patio or a smaller area you can still garden with pots and flower beds. Many people have potted tomatoes and miniature dwarf lemon trees growing in pots on their patios. These are also easier to care for and look great.

You can even grow your produce indoors using window herb gardens or elaborate aerogardens. If you have a lot of space and time you can even create a hydroponic system and have year round pest free organic produce.

Gardening can be a great way to commune with nature and save on food costs, while eating healthier. No matter what your needs or resources are, with a little creativity and innovation you can be gardening in no time.
